In Mozart's The Abduction from the Seraglio, a captivating drama about love, freedom and forgiveness unfolds. The young Spaniard Belmonte travels to the Ottoman Empire full of hope to free his beloved Konstanze from the palace of the powerful Bassa Selim. With cunning and the help of his servant Pedrillo, he plans his rescue - but the walls of the seraglio are high and the guards, like the gruff Osmin, are relentless. While Konstanze remains true to her love for Belmonte, she struggles desperately with the power and temptations that the Bassa exerts on her. The plan seems to fail, the escape is discovered and the prisoners face the death penalty. But in the end, love and generosity triumph over hatred and violence and the opera shows us that true greatness lies in forgiveness. The music, full of emotion and drama, makes every heart rejoice and cheer.
