Mr. Peachum and his wife run a flourishing begging business in London, but unfortunately things are not going so well in their private lives. Their only daughter Polly has fallen in love with Mackie Messer, England's most notorious and most wanted gangster. He is only still at large because he bribed the chief of police, Tiger Brown, but the air is getting thinner and thinner.
Brecht's crook comedy celebrates human wickedness with the help of Weill's catchy tune in such a callous and cheeky way that you can't help but enjoy it as long as the moon shines over Soho.
