Three young women - sisters from upper middle-class backgrounds - dream of a new future, an alternative to the present: out of the provinces, the unloved everyday life and the feeling of being superfluous - towards Moscow, the place of their childhood, the hoped-for freedom, the real life.
But while they long for change, the here and now remains unlived.
124 years after its premiere, six actresses take up the questions and conflicts of the classic play and set Chekhov's "Three Sisters" in motion. They link their own biographies with the stories of the sisters and bring their questions into the present: Who am I and who do I want to be? What have I achieved and what have I missed out on? What remains of me?
A course through time that moves on incessantly and yet threatens to repeat itself. A cycle with no way forward, from which we must - with all our strength - find a way out!
