The traffic light government has failed, Germany is facing a new election. We discuss what lies ahead. We also offer help with the switch to digital reading.

A lot is new in this election: Friedrich Merz has never governed before - but wants to become chancellor. The center-left parties SPD and Greens are looking for a way to counter the right-wing trend. The AfD, on the other hand, could become the second strongest party. The coalition options are limited, with black-green or black-red looking the most likely. Or will the SPD manage to catch up like in 2021?

The joint Bundestag vote by the CDU and AfD on migration makes this somewhat more likely. The CDU appears to be tearing down the firewall, which is earning it criticism from potential coalition partners and the former chancellor. But does this also have consequences for the next federal government? The taz discusses what these developments mean and what lies ahead.
