80 years after the end of the Second World War, the motto of Die Blaue Nacht on 17 May 2025 is "Love and Peace"; inspired by the colorful hippie era and its advocacy for global peace and new democracy movements.
First organized 25 years ago to mark the 950th anniversary of the city of Nuremberg, today Die Blaue Nacht presents a wide range of events, especially participatory ones, from over 50 cultural institutions that represent the impressive diversity of Nuremberg's cultural life. Municipal, state, church and private institutions are once again participating with their own programs, including the KunstKulturQuartier with Kunsthalle, Kunstvilla, Filmhaus and the reopened Künstlerhaus, the City Archive, the Kunstbunker, the Kreis-Galerie, the Deutsches Museum Nürnberg, the DB Museum, the Kaiserburg, the Evangelische Stadtakademie im Eckstein, the Caritas-Pirckheimer-Haus with the Allianz gegen Rechtsextremismus, the Club Stereo, the Kulturkellerei, the Theater Salz & Pfeffer and others.A new addition is the area of the former Kaufhof, whose rooms will also be filled with contemporary art during the Blue Night under the motto "Music of the Future".
The ten art installations and activities from the international Blue Night art competition can be seen on two days, including Friday, May 16.
