On February 16, 2025, the German Surfing Association (DWV) will provide an exciting insight into the world of surfing. Included in the package: the "shortboard" discipline.

With the shortboard, athletes use a shorter and more maneuverable surfboard. This allows them to maneuver faster and more precisely. The DWV promotes shortboard as one of the most dynamic disciplines in surfing. The association is actively committed to the further development of this sport at national and international level. Emphasis is placed on technique, speed and the skillful use of the wave, which makes shortboarding a particularly challenging and exciting discipline. Shortboarding has been provisionally included in the Olympic program since 2017.

At the German Sport & Olympia Museum, participants have the opportunity to examine a real shortboard and get to know the discipline better on the action day. You can try out the balance board and go through the classic competition preparation. In addition to practical insights into the sport, DWV representatives can be asked any burning questions about the sport, training, getting started or the Olympic & Paralympic Games. Finally, all - new and prospective - professionals can test their knowledge of the sport in the big shortboard quiz.

The DWV's visit to the German Sport & Olympic Museum is a great opportunity for surfers, anyone interested and all sports enthusiasts to find out more about the association - and shortboarding in particular - to try out new skills and be inspired by the world of surfing.
