In the organizer's words:

At a time when the shift to the right in Germany is becoming ever clearer, the young activist and author Jakob Springfeld presents his new book "Der Westen hat keine Ahnung, was im Osten passiert". The panel offers a unique opportunity to experience the perspective of a committed East German and to understand the complex challenges in the region.
The talk will offer insights into Jakob Springfeld's life and his commitment to fighting right-wing extremism in rural East Germany. The author will read selected excerpts from his new book.

This will be followed by a discussion about his experiences with racism, right-wing extremism and exclusion as well as growing up and civil society involvement in East Germany.

🐾 Jakob Springfeld is a young activist, author and student. He studies political science and sociology in Halle and has been committed to democracy, climate protection and against right-wing extremism since his youth.

🐾 Dennis Chiponda will moderate the event. He sees himself as an eastern activist and fighter for marginalized groups. As the podcast host of "Mauerecho - East meets West", he brings together different perspectives and makes invisible stories visible.
