The Museum of Musical Curiosities - a staged family concert about the fabulous world of instruments

Camille Saint-Saëns | The Carnival of the Animals
Richard Ayres | The Museum of Musical Curiosities

Paris around 1900, a mysterious setting: a museum in which unusual-looking instruments and musicians are exhibited. What are these curious instruments? Who are the people who play them? What happens when they make music alone or together? And what happens when musicians and music are dissected and reassembled under a microscope? With this staged concert, the Aurora Orchestra and actress Birgit Minichmayr invite you to immerse yourself in the fantastic world of instruments. In addition to a new version of the "Carnival of the Animals" with a text by Richard Ayres, they present a work by the British composer Richard Ayres that takes you right into the heart of a musical cabinet of curiosities.
