To mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, actor and speaker Thomas Straus presents an impressive reading from Anna Haag's diaries.

From 1940 to 1945, the writer and pacifist documented everyday life under the Nazi regime, the effects of the war and the behavior of her fellow human beings at the risk of her life.

Her work, which was only published in 2021 under the title "Denken ist heute überhaupt nicht mehr Mode" (Thinking is no longer fashionable today), is a captivating testimony to her time that reveals frightening parallels to the present day.

The reading offers a profound insight into human behavioral patterns such as opportunism, fear, repression and denunciation - topics that have lost none of their topicality to this day.

Thomas Straus - A master of words

Thomas Straus is an experienced actor and speaker who knows how to bring stories to life with his voice and presence. For many years, he shaped the Landestheater Coburg with his talent and could be seen in countless productions on stages all over Germany.

His passion for language and literature is not only evident in the theater, but also in his work as a narrator for Radio Bayern 2, where he has been heard for more than two decades in the areas of literature, features and entertainment. He has also worked for television in the past and has given numerous readings at renowned venues, including the Peace Museum in Meeder near Coburg.
