A stage, a microphone, an eloquent presenter and hand-picked linguistic acrobats - that's all you need for a poetry slam. This term is known to be the most popular form of poetry competition in modern times. A poetry slam is fast-paced, dynamic, interactive and varied. The poet meets the short story teller, the Dadaist meets the comedian - and the audience is the completely subjective jury.
Anything is possible at a poetry slam: rhymed or unrhymed, political and private, funny and serious. Only one thing is clear: the texts must be written by the participants themselves and the presentation must last a maximum of 6 minutes. No costumes. No singing.
