Davi Pontes & Wallace Ferreira: Repertório N.3

Two young dancers stand completely naked on stage. They stomp on the floor in energetic,rhythmic patterns that constantly enrich and change. The physical intensity vibrates through the room. Sweat splashes up, heavy breathing movements can be heard until the two dancers suddenly calmly move into lascivious poses and ask the audience positioned all around themto fixate on their naked bodiesin a self-determined , almost provocative manner.

In theirRepertório trilogy , the exciting Brazilian duo Davi Pontes and Wallace Ferreira explore dance as a means of resistance against the structural and political violence against black and queer people in the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro. In three minimalist, criticallyreflective works , they understand dance as a practice of self-defence in order to free themselves from social classification and stigmatization. Pontes and Ferreira stomp tosurvive; they stomp to reject the social stigmas imposed on their bodies.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Davi Pontes works between visual arts, choreography and research. His practice is dedicated to analyzing and criticizing systemic and global structures of violence. Wallace Ferreira- also from Rio de Janeiro- is a visual artist and performerwho develops strategies and choreographic actions to free himself from structures of representation. In2021, Pontes and Ferreira co-directed the film Deliraro Racial. They achieved their international breakthrough as a duo with the Repertóriotrilogy. In 2022 , Repertório N.2 won the Young Choreographers' Award at Impulstanz in Vienna.

The International DANCE Festival Munichwill show part2 of the trilogy twice in the Muffathalle and part3 on the following two days in the schwere reiter.
