Das Rote Sofa: ZOE & Eray Gülay

Artist talk, moderated by Sascha Förster

The Red Sofa is TMD's long-standing discussion format. Guests from Düsseldorf's art and culture scene take a seat on an actual red sofa, which had its first life as a stage sofa in the Schauspielhaus. There they chat with Sascha, the director of the TMD, about their careers, biographical anecdotes and current projects.

In November, two long-standing partners of the TMD finally take a seat on the Red Sofa: ZOE and Eray Gülay. ZOE is not only the winner of a sponsorship award from the state capital Düsseldorf, but also a dancer, ballroom performer and choreographer. Eray Gülay is also a dancer and ballroom performer and a founding member of the Shapes&Shades collective together with ZOE and other members. In June, the two of them opened the Sicilia Queer Filmfest in Palermo together with other Düsseldorf ballroom performers. In cooperation with the Theatermuseum and the Düsseldorf-Palermo association, an exhibition at the Filmmuseum is currently looking back on this opening.

In conversation with Sascha, ZOE and Eray will talk about their experiences at the festival and memories of Palermo, but also about their respective paths to dance, the Rhineland ballroom scene and the importance of community.
