In Germany, politics is still primarily a matter for men. Why is it so difficult for women, especially in local politics, to take on responsibility and help shape life in their communities? Is there a lack of motivation to run for office or what are the reasons behind this? How can political networks be used? How can family and a mandate be reconciled? How can politics be made more inclusive? Cécile Weidhofer discusses these questions with Helene Weber Prize winners Marilena Geugjes, Hibba Kauser and Gabriele Off-Nesselhauf.

Cécile Weidhofer is Director at the EAF Berlin and heads the Helene Weber-Kolleg.

Dr. Marilena Geugjes (Greens) has represented the Heidelberg district in the Stuttgart state parliament since June 2024 and has been a city councillor in Heidelberg since 2019.

Hibba-Tun-Noor Kauser (SPD) has been a city councillor in Offenbach since 2021. She is a member of the federal board of the Jusos.

Gabriele Off-Nesselhauf (CSU) has been a district councillor in the district of Upper Bavaria since 2013 and a district councillor in Fürstenfeldbruck since 2014.
