An interactive karaoke talk with women from Düsseldorf

Don't be afraid of off-key tunes! In this joint series of events, kom!ma e.V. and the TMD present Düsseldorf women six times a year who are committed to women's issues in the city in a wide variety of ways. In a wild mixture of talk and a joint karaoke evening, the guests are given the opportunity to introduce themselves and their lives and work. Together with the audience, songs are sung in between that have accompanied the talk guests throughout their lives.

In January, the Poesiealbum team is looking forward to Corina Gertz. In her long-term global project The Averted Portrait, the Düsseldorf-based photo artist, who works and teaches around the world, focuses on women in traditional dress and costumes as a hip portrait from behind against a monochrome black background. With this arrangement, which is repeated in all of the portraits and removes body proportions or skin colors from the field of vision, Gertz exposes clothing and attributes as cultural constants that are equally an expression of individuality and belonging in all regions of the world and across generations.
