If you walk along the old paths of the western suburbs, the so-called "Kolonnadenviertel", you will see one quote after another, architectural reinterpretations alongside original buildings. The large-scale destruction during the Second World War had already paved the way for a redesign of the district in 1945. But it was not until 1982 that the redesign of the district began to take shape. The urban space reflects an ambitious GDR housing construction program that is still being used and revitalized today. The area around Kolonnadenstraße, with its mix of old and experimental new panel buildings, has long since developed into a lively , trendy neighborhood and is popular with artists and creative professionals, not just its cafés, restaurants and pubs. We embark on an architectural journey through the past centuries, explore the special collage character that we know from old European cities and immerse ourselves in the typical flair of the "Kolle", which is unparalleled in Leipzig.
