Volcanoes of the earth
Lecture by Heiko Beyer
Ever since travel and photojournalist Heiko Beyer experienced "his" first volcanic eruption in the middle of an icy glacier twelve years ago, he has been burning with a passion that has turned his life into a unique adventure: He set off on a world tour to fire mountains on four continents! Whether in Iceland, Italy, New Zealand, the South Seas, Indonesia, Congo or Ethiopia: Whenever they hurled their lava into the air - Heiko got as close to them all as he could!
In his new live reportage, he tells exciting stories about his encounters with the volcanoes, but also about nature, the animals and plants and, above all, the people who have learned to live with, between and from the volcanoes.
He accompanied the sulphur workers in the crater of the steaming Ijen in Indonesia, visited the last mountain gorillas together with rangers in the civil war country of Congo and was a guest of the Afar tribe in Ethiopia's Danakil Desert. Over the years, he has experienced three different eruptions in Iceland. On the other side of the world, in New Zealand, Heiko Beyer undertook an elaborate expedition by helicopter to an uninhabited crater island. And in the South Pacific, he visited a village whose people worship a demigod from America who, according to their beliefs, lives under an active volcano.
After eleven years and 18 trips to the most active fire mountains on four continents, Heiko Beyers presents his new live reportage, gripping, visually stunning and full of exciting stories that are truly unique. We promise.
Accompany Heiko Beyer on his long and exciting journeys to the volcanoes of the world!
