As is often the case with his books, it was an image that triggered Wolfgang Büscher's desire to go there: A hermitage far from the world on a high plateau, built by a desert saint who many thought was mad and who became a friend of the Tuareg. Wolfgang Büscher became famous in 2003 with his book "Berlin-Moscow. Eine Reise zu Fuß" ("Berlin-Moscow. A Journey on Foot"), which sold hundreds of thousands of copies and has been translated many times over, established German-language travel literature anew at the time. The books about his travels through Germany, America, Jerusalem and most recently to his home in Hesse were also successful and received a great deal of attention.
