CORELLA

The indie pop band from the UK comes to Cologne, Berlin and Munich

The United Kingdom has always been a creative source of good indie music. Following in the footsteps of bands such as Foals and Two Door Cinema Club, Corella belong to a new generation of bands that are inspiring audiences around the world with a typically British indie sound. Their songs "Bloom", "Come Around", "Barcelona Girl" and "Let On" hark back to the indie rock sound of the 2000s and expand it with modern pop influences. After features on BBC Introducing and ITV's "This Morning" and performances at festivals such as Reading & Leeds, Latitude, Kendal Calling and Neighbourhood, Corella are long past newcomer status in their home country. After reaching number 49 in the UK album charts with their latest album "Once Upon A Weekend" , the band from Manchester have now set their sights on winning over the European market. Corella will be coming to Germany for three concerts in June.

Joel Smith (vocals), Jack Taylor (guitar), Ben Henderson (bass) and James Fawcett (drums) met at university and founded the band Corella in 2016. In the same year, the band released their first single, "Waterfall", which revealed the band's playful indie-pop sound. Following the release of further singles, Corella celebrated their first major hit with the song "Barcelona Girl" in July 2017 and played a sold-out UK tour. With the songs "Let On", "Bloom", "Come Around" (all 2019) and "Puppets " (2020), Corella initially had to wait for the release of a larger work. Her debut EP "Today, Tomorrow, Whenever" was released in 2022 and was preceded by the successful singles "Do You Want It?" (2022) and "Monday" (2021) had already hinted at this. In October 2023, "Don't Stop Me" was released as the first harbinger of the long-awaited debut album, which was released in May 2024 after three more singles. "Once Upon A Weekend" entered the British charts at number 49 and was praised by Bring The Noise for its good melodies and described as "summery feel-good indie music".
