The Lysistrata Chamber Collective presents the third season of the Forgotten Female* Composers Concert Series!

////WHAT: The opening concert of our winter/spring season and premiere at our new venue - Alte Welt! 

A 60 minute concert featuring works by German, American, Dutch and French women composers - spanning nearly 160 years of history.

During turbulent times, music allows us to connect and converse beyond the limitations of language and logic; come explore with us the importance of listening, while discovering the music and stories revolving around these remarkable composers.

Featuring music for voice, flute, cello and piano, the event will last roughly an hour and a half in total (concert and post-concert gathering) - all whilst enjoying drinks and snacks in the “opulent salon-like” atmosphere of Alte Welt.

///WHY: Because for various reasons, the contributions of many women in music have been forgotten over the decades and centuries, but we are here to change that! Let’s continue and deepen the conversation about female composers and to keep spreading their great music.

— Lysistrata Chamber Collective, founded in Spring 2023, is an international ensemble based in Berlin whose aim is to promote and make more accessible music by female composers from the past and the present. The group (voice, flute, cello & piano) performs in all ensemble combinations creating concert programs especially appreciated by the public for their variety of colors and styles.

///WAS: Das Eröffnungskonzert unserer Winter-/Frühjahrssaison und die Premiere in unserer neuen Spielstätte - der Alte Welt! Dort werden wir Werke deutscher, amerikanischer, niederländischer und französischer Komponistinnen aus fast 160 Jahre Musikgeschichte umspannen. 

Gerade in unsicheren Zeiten gibt Musik uns die Möglichkeit, jenseits der Grenzen von Sprache und Logik miteinander in Kontakt zu treten und füreinander da zu sein.

Die Veranstaltung mit Musik für Gesang, Flöte, Cello und Klavier wird insgesamt etwa eineinhalb Stunden dauern (Konzert und anschließendes Beisammensein) - und das alles bei Getränken und Snacks in der gemütlichen und einzigartigen Atmosphäre der Alten Welt.

///WARUM: Weil gute Musik nicht ungehört bleiben sollte! Aus verschiedenen Gründen sind die musikalischen Beiträge vieler Frauen im Laufe der Jahrzehnte und Jahrhunderte in Vergessenheit geraten - wir holen diese versunkenen Schätze an die Oberfläche und bieten euch und uns die Chance, verlorene Zeit aufzuholen und verstummte Stimmen wieder zum Klingen zu bringen.

— Das im Frühjahr 2023 gegründete Lysistrata Chamber Collective ist ein internationales Ensemble mit Sitz in Berlin, dessen Ziel es ist, die Musik von Komponistinnen aus Vergangenheit und Gegenwart zu fördern und zugänglich zu machen. Die Gruppe (Gesang, Flöte, Cello und Klavier) tritt in unterschiedlichen Besetzungen auf und gestaltet innovative und vielfältige Konzertprogramme.

Diese Veranstaltung ist eine Partnerveranstaltung des 1781 Collective.
