Mattias Adolfsson lives in a small town called Sigtuna outside Stockholm, Sweden. He has a master's degree in graphic design and worked on computer games and 3D modeling for ten years before switching to illustration in 2007.

He spends about half of his time on commissioned work and the rest on his drawings. Adolfsson has worked with many major clients from all over the world and has also traveled to art and book festivals and even some music festivals.

Some of his commissioned work has been in collaboration with Google, The New Yorker, Nickelodeon, Disney, and many more.

As part of his master class (together with Lotte Wagner from 30.09 to 04.10.2024) he will visit Dortmund and introduce us to his way of working. Adolfsson will provide insights into his past, his everyday life and his current projects.

In his own words he says:

"I draw for the same reason I did as a child, and with exactly the same method. If you found something amusing, there is half a chance someone else will too. The customer is not always right."
