Catcalls - Belästigung oder Komplimente?

In the organizer's words:

"Hey sweetie, stop right there." - "Do you want to touch him?" - "Hot ass!"

These sayings, also known as catcalls, are part of everyday life for many people. In recent years, an increasing number of those affected have commented on how bad such comments are for them. But there are also some who say: "That's meant nicely - they're compliments." Is that true? What are catcalls actually? And what exactly constitutes a compliment? How often does catcalling happen and what can I actually do if it happens to me? Is it a criminal offense?

We will talk about these questions in the workshop Catcalls - Compliments or Harassment with the activists from @catcallsofhannover on March 14, 2025 at 3 p.m. in the ZeitZentrum Zivilcourage. After the workshop, there will be the opportunity to get active yourself and make catcalls visible in a joint "chalking action". The event is aimed at interested parties aged 14 and over; registration is possible at das-z@hannover-stadt.de. Participation is free of charge.
