What is actually going on? An appalling rationalism is rampant - anything that doesn't serve it is fought against, anyone who doesn't follow it quickly becomes a good-for-nothing.
"Idleness is the beginning of all vices", proclaim the industrious Germans; anyone who wastes their time is subsequently hindering the system, the economy and therefore us. And anyway: the pension! Doesn't sound so benevolent. So why did we stop imagining a different world? When did we start taking everything so seriously? Our lives are not functional equations that obey the laws of financial mathematics. We know that and yet it's so difficult to simply do nothing. To just do some real nonsense. Is it ridiculous? Is it naive? Yes - both! Wonderful!
"Leonce and Lena" is an invitation to discover the radical power of tenderness and to revitalize the fragile furnishings of our world with dreams, games, romps and fantasy. And so off to Italy: Germany's land of longing, to which we owe limoncello, mozzarella and Eros Ramazotti. Il dolce far niente. Sebastian Jakob Doppelbauer and Valentin Richter, who have worked together on productions at Schauspiel Stuttgart and Schauspiel Hannover, among others, are starting off at Theaterschiff Heilbronn with a colorful, tragicomic and always musical drama festival. And with a culinary accompaniment by Michele Aiello and his team from Tuffo.
