Presented by Cine Club Lanzarote with the support of Sancocho.com, Teguise Music Show Case, Festival de Rock San Gines, mbbackline.
We exist, 'cause we resist! Years ago, the founders of Cine Club Lanzarote set our minds to making culture possible - especially free cinema in the periphery of Europe, the Canary Islands. And since the four of us are also pretty punk in the best sense of the word, here comes a heartfelt project and cry for help: We exist, 'cause we resist: CANARIAS CALLING 2024. In keeping with the motto "everyone off to Kreuzberg", we're simply taking large parts of our scene with us and where else but SO36, which stands for a rebellious, independent spirit!

They've been around for over 10 years, are an insider tip for a visit to Berlin in London and have a large fan base not only in the capital: WonderSka. They are seven women who represent ska in a slightly different way. In addition to the usual rhythm section of drums, guitar and bass, they play well-known ska classics and verse pop songs on saxophone, trumpet, trombone and keyboard. Their own songs have become popular hits at street festivals and parties. They don't simply allow themselves to be marketed, don't want to play everywhere and choose the venues where they present themselves carefully. They prefer the low-budget[1] events rather than the mega festivals to which they are invited. They swim against the tide, so to speak, and sparkle more than many of their well-known male colleagues. Their aim is not perfection, but what they believe is special about this music: fun and partying. And they certainly do! The fact that they are also great musicians, some of whom play in other well-known bands in Berlin, rounds off a successful performance. Once you've seen them live, you'll be back! Faktótum
Faktótum, we already had them in our luggage at SO36 last year and said to ourselves, "Let's do it again!" Faktótum was founded in mid-2009. Before that, singer José María de Páiz had spent a year composing songs that he thought could be played by a band. This guitarist by accident, who has already left his mark on groups such as Goma 2 or Unabomber, has always been known on the island more for his skills with a pen than with six strings. In fact, up to almost a dozen island bands have used his lyrics and he has also published two novels and the book "Héroes del rock canario".
It was J.M. de Páiz - renamed "Bomb" for the new project - who knocked on the doors of Mame Spínola, probably the best rock'n'roll artist in the region. The former leader of the mythical Cerrajeros, interested in the material and proposed a series of musicians to form the Faktótum project.The drums had first and last names, it was to be played by a historic rock in the Canary Islands, Sergio de Páiz, "El Potaje", who had already marked legendary bands such as Marca Acme or Ataúd Vacante.
The gods of rock were generous and tried to recruit a powerful Jorge Díaz, former member of Fuck'em All, Pechuga Band, Motorower, AMR and El Cuarto Ambulante, to play the four strings.Two albums were released and about thirty concerts were given on the islands, accompanied by the best bands of the archipelago.The musical style is rock with a lot of punk and in some songs it approaches other musical styles such as reggae, funk or metal.

Guerrilla Urbana
Miguel Diaz "Zurda" has been flying the flag for punk rock on the Canary archipelago for over 40 years - whether with his legendary band Escorbuto Crónico or the current band Guerrilla Urbana .His contribution to punk rock in La Laguna (Tenerife) made him the key figure in punk rock for all the other Canary Islands and the catalyst for the explosion of punk rock in the Canary Islands in the 1970s. Zurda is unadorned, close and authentic, with all the rage and anger of punk rock in La Laguna.
Guerrilla Urbana
The band was formed in 1983 in La Laguna (Tenerife) and shared a rehearsal room with Escorbuto Crónico, pioneers of punk in the Canary Islands, whose origins date back to the late 1970s. After a few changes in the line-up, the band initially consisted of Ojo Trueno (founder and first bassist of the band), Chiru, Zurda and Cuervo (these three are ex-members of Escorbuto Crónico). With this line-up, they recorded their first studio album "RAZÓN DE ESTADO" (Reason of State) in 1989. Their second album TOQUE A DEGÜELLO was released in 1992.
