Calving

In the organizer's words:

DANCE

Small House

by Faye Driscoll / Unusual Symptoms
Choreography: Faye Driscoll

In her first work with Unusual Symptoms, US choreographer Faye Driscoll has developed a ritual of touch in which six dancers radically approach each other. Calving, the breaking off of large masses of ice from the edge of a glacier, serves as a visual metaphor for the slow falling together of six bodies. Just like the boundaries between the bodies, Driscoll's new work also blurs the space between stage and audience, between choreography, sound and sculpture. The result is an evening that activates all the senses and invites us to experience our relationship to other bodies in a new way.

Faye Driscoll is known for works that make complex demands on the senses and encourage the audience to become aware of their own involvement in what is happening. Her productions, created in the USA, have been shown at festivals such as the Venice Biennale, Festival d'Automne à Paris and the Melbourne Festival. Together with Unusual Symptoms, Faye Driscoll has now produced a new piece in Europe for the first time.
