GRIPS Theater
With "BÜLOWSTRASSE", Berlin's legendary GRIPS Theater presents a new, gripping musical theater production set in the heart of the pulsating life of the capital. Based on songs from the album of the same name by the successful singer-songwriter LEA, this stage adaptation takes the audience into the melting pot of Berlin, with the eponymous Bülowstraße as its emotional center.
At the center is Mila, a young woman who enjoys Berlin's nightlife to the full with her best friends Yasmin and Timur. But behind the glittering facades of the city, Mila struggles with inner emptiness and the challenges of growing up. While Yasmin dreams of an acting career and Timur carries a secret with him, Mila feels torn between the pressures of her everyday life and the conflicts with her parents. And then Jerome, a figure from Mila's past, unexpectedly returns into her life. Only a dramatic event forces Mila to pause and find her own way.
With songs from LEA's fifth album "BÜLOWSTRASSE", the piece captures the fleeting moments of the big city - nights when you think you can reach for the stars and days when your own bearings threaten to disappear. The modern pop songs, sometimes big, sometimes reduced and vulnerable, accompany the stories of Mila and her friends. Between loss and new beginnings, between painful decisions and the pursuit of fulfillment, a poetic tale of life, love and letting go emerges. Following the great success of "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World", the GRIPS Theater is bringing another captivating production to the Ruhrfestspiele with "BÜLOWSTRASSE".
