In the organizer's words:

Welcome to the Bülbül Club - a meeting place for dancing together and dances from West Asia and North Africa. After an introductory workshop on a dance style, we dance without borders - like Bülbüls! In Arabic, Hebrew, Kurdish, Turkish and Persian, Bülbül is a proverb for joy and for speaking fluently and vocally. In addition to dancing, the club also invites people to share and celebrate together.

Special Edition - Halay Night - Hasaposerviko & Insel-Syrtos

Circle dances from Turkey and Greece

On this evening, we will learn the steps of the classic halay, which is danced at every Turkish or Kurdish wedding. We will also introduce you to the damat halayı from the Balkans and other parts of Turkey as well as a circle dance from the Black Sea region and practice it with you. You will also have the opportunity to get to know two of the most widespread Greek dances: the hasaposerviko is one of the most popular traditional dances in Greece, which is danced at festivals. The island syrtos is a circle dance that inspires and unites - it symbolizes unity, joy and tradition of the island communities.
In this special edition of the Bülbül Club you can immerse yourself in the world of Greek dance traditions and at the same time prepare yourself for the one or other upcoming Anatolian festival. The main thing on this evening is to have fun together and dance in a circle without limits - just like Bülbüls!

The Halay Night / Turkish circle dances are led by the dancers and the trainer from the Anatolian Dances in Düsseldorf association (ATiD e.V.). ATiD e.V. was founded in 2003 and has a diverse membership structure. The dancers include students, trainees, professionals and parents. ATiD particularly appreciates the colorful diversity of cultures present in Turkey and the different dances associated with them. Diversity is also explicitly perceived as diversity and not as a threat within the team. We hope to enrich Düsseldorf's urban culture with dances from Anatolia.
The Greek circle dances are led by Phaedra Pisimisi, a professional dancer from Greece, a performer and choreographer who lives and works in NRW. The Hasaposervikos has musical and dance influences from various Balkan peoples who traveled to the urban centers of Greece to trade. The island syrtos is a traditional Greek dance that is widespread on many islands of the Aegean and the Ionian Sea.
With the support of the Greek community of Düsseldorf.
