In every life there are moments when something unexpected happens and everyday life meets the unbelievable: the deputy head of department Mrs. Zilius lays an egg the size of a fist, much to her dismay, while she is actually dealing with an unpleasant personnel matter. In the middle of a church service, Sabine Kleinhans begins to float away from her pew - and thus from a life caught between self-important work colleagues and a disinterested husband. One Wednesday, Bernward Kreutzträger decides to join a flock of sheep because being around other people makes him increasingly angry.
"Mrs. Zilius laid her first egg on a Thursday" is a mixture of ludicrous and empathetically told stories that life couldn't write like this. Or could it?
Friederike Gräff presents her new collection of stories full of wondrous everyday occurrences and laconic wit.
The book:
Published by Schöffling & Co, the book entitled "Frau Zilius legte ihr erstes Ei an einem Donnerstag" brings together 14 stories that explore the boundaries of everyday life and the "normal" in a refreshingly new way.
The author:
Friederike Gräff, born in 1972, is an editor at taz as well as the author of two non-fiction books and numerous stories, about which the jury of the Hamburg Literature Prize said "Kafka would have to smile".
