Borussia und die Briten – Sonderausstellung in der FohlenWelt

On May 8, 2024, Borussia will open the new special exhibition "Borussia and the British" in its interactive club museum, the FohlenWelt. This sixth exhibition, which Borussia has designed and implemented entirely on its own initiative, will cover around 110 square meters and focus on Borussia's special relationship with British soccer. Starting with the first matches against English teams in 1912 and 1914, through Borussia's relationship with the British Army of the Rhine stationed in Mönchengladbach and the special relationship with Liverpool FC, to the Foals' most recent soccer adventures on the island as "A German Team" and to fans from Great Britain who are regular guests at BORUSSIA-PARK - the points of reference between VfL and British soccer are fascinating and varied.
In the year of the European Football Championship in Germany, Borussia has deliberately chosen an international exhibition theme, which at the same time has strong local roots due to the close links between the city, Borussia and the British Army stationed here. "We hope to not only inspire soccer fans in the region to visit FohlenWelt, but also to offer international fans, especially British fans, an interesting experience at BORUSSIA-PARK in the summer," says Borussia's managing director Markus Aretz.
The organizers of the exhibition have come up with a special ambience in which to present the show. "The room for the special exhibition will be transformed into a soccer pub, designed and furnished with great attention to detail," reveals Matthias Rech, Director of FohlenWelt. "And there will be plenty to discover and experience in this pub." At the bar, visitors can listen to the story of a Borussia team's first trip to Scotland from a player who was there in 1960, replay the 1977 European Cup final against Liverpool FC on a table football table or find out from British fans why they lost their hearts to Borussia. The big and small stories that connect Borussia with the motherland of soccer have been presented in multimedia form by the FohlenWelt team. These stories about "Borussia and the British" are explored in greater depth in an accompanying magazine of the same name, which will be available in the FohlenShops from the opening.
