BLACK DOG is an outstanding example of the man-and-dog genre and a profound, poetic odyssey that unfolds in the barren landscape on the edge of the Gobi Desert.

After a long stay in prison, Lang returns to his hometown on the edge of the Gobi Desert, but nothing is as it once was. The city is in a state of flux, buildings are empty and crumbling, while stray dogs roam the deserted streets. A few weeks before the Olympic Games in Beijing, the authorities decide to take action against the growing number of stray animals, in particular the elusive "black dog" that is terrifying the residents. Lang, desperate for a fresh start, becomes part of a team of dog catchers and unexpectedly develops a deep bond with the animal, who is as lonely and lost as he is. Together they embark on a journey that will not only change Lang's relationship with the dog, but also his own life forever.
