DIE SCHLÄGER
Geography, beer and rock'n'roll

Die Schläger play fun rock with a focus on beer ("Quäle nie ein Bier zum Scherz", "Unterhopfung") and geography ("Wildeshausen", "Bremerhaven", "Nichts ist doofer als Hannover"). But other important topics are also addressed through their self-composed pieces, e.g. "Ohrenkrebs" and "Scheiß Kamasutra".

Why "Die Schläger"?

Die Schläger were founded in the early 90s as a Bremen school band. It was supposed to be a German band name, but many translations of English band names were far too controversial: "Napalm Tod", "Schwarze Messe", "Eiserne Jungfrau", "Selbstmord Tendenzen" or "Schmutzwiege". Hence simply "Die Schläger" as in "Schlagzeug", "Schlaggitarre", "Schlagbass" and "Schlaggesang". It wasn't until the 10s that the name was dragged through the mud by dumb subway thugs. The thugs despise and condemn all superfluous violence (except against stubborn instruments, of course). From the outset, they would never mess with stronger people.

Years of rehearsals

After more than 25 years of tedious but short rehearsals, which strangely always end in their local pub, they have decided: It's not going to work. So, in all their imperfection, they finally went on a European tour in 2015. Musical deficits are made up for by all the more intense partying.

So: lots of beer, lots of rock'n'roll and a little bit of geography.

Summary

Hard rock and weird lyrics: The fun rockers "Die Schläger" are coming to town. "Guys, stock up on beer. Where we play, we'll run out of beer afterwards" warns singer Ralf the Black Eggers, because the band is on a crusade against under-hopping. There's no room for filigree musical tinkering, instead they rock hard and party hard. The lyrics are all in German and deal not only with beer drinking but also with big philosophical questions such as "Shit Kamasutra" and "Nothing is more stupid than Hanover". So if you're not afraid of ear cancer, you're in good hands at this concert.

Free admission. All concerts are hat concerts, which means that YOU as a guest decide how much you want to put in the hat. There is no rule for this, you alone decide. As a little tip, musicians create their works, rehearse and come to us at the venue! Musicians love "spotlights" but any amount is welcome - just like you! We accept cash or EC cash! Enjoy a few musical hours in a relaxed atmosphere with musicians and bands from various genres.
