Berlin Cathedral, one of Berlin's most important cultural sites, will continue its rich tradition from November 2024 with a carefully curated cultural program featuring top-class artists. Under the title "Berlin Cathedral Concerts", it will open its doors to a wide audience interested in culture and offer a diverse program of classical and modern concerts, dance projects, readings and productions of the highest standard. On November 23, Katharine Mehrling and Tilmar Kuhn will present the musical reading "Werner Richard Heymann - Life and Songs" as part of the "Berlin Cathedral Concerts".

Werner Richard Heymann (1896-1961) - the son of a Jewish family from Königsberg - was a big name in the turbulent Berlin cultural scene during the Weimar period. He was the most frequently performed UFA composer of his time and left behind a large oeuvre that goes far beyond his popular film hits (Irgendwo auf der Welt, Das gibt's nur einmal). It includes symphonies, chansons for cabaret (Schall und Rauch, Die Wilde Bühne), operettas, music for the stage (for Max Reinhardt, among others), for silent films and the sound film operettas of the 1930s (Die Drei von der Tankstelle, Der Kongress tanzt) and his film compositions in Hollywood (Ninotchka, Sein oder Nichtsein).

Katharine Mehrling is at home on many major Berlin and international stages. She is celebrated for her Brecht/Weill interpretations at the Komische Oper Berlin, the Berliner Ensemble and the Konzerthaus. Her path led her to New York to drama school, to her theater debut in London's West End, to Paris and finally to Berlin, where she was awarded the "Golden Curtain" audience award as Berlin's most popular actress for the 7th time in 2024.

Tilmar Kuhn was born and grew up in Berlin and studied acting at the Konrad Wolf University of Film and Television in Potsdam-Babelsberg. Tilmar Kuhn was a member of the ensemble at the state theaters in Oldenburg and Braunschweig, had engagements and guest performances in Berlin, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Munich, Zurich and Frankfurt am Main, among others. Kuhn has appeared in numerous television productions (including Lindenstraße, Wolffs Revier, Soko Stuttgart, Das Küstenrevier). He reads audio books, speaks features and radio plays for the radio and works as a dubbing artist.
