It was Ilse Aichinger who wrote about fighting gently and also put this into literature. The writers Joshua Groß and Franz Friedrich could be elective cousins, even if they write quite differently. But their inner attitudes are probably related. In his novel "Plasmatropfen", Joshua Groß tells the story of the love between the artist Helen and the geophysicist Lenell. It has already become fragile when events and encounters steer them into a new life. Against the backdrop of the great climatic drift of our time, this novel tells of painful and saving moulting.
Joshua Groß writes about these relationships and this drift in such a way that it becomes clear: It is also about ethical questions. This creates a link to Franz Friedrich's novel "The Passenger". Franz Friedrich, whose novel was nominated for the German Book Prize in the fall, takes us to a time in the indefinite future in which a woman named Heather returns to Colchis. In Colchis there was a sanatorium for people who were evacuated from life-threatening situations - via time travel. Franz Friedrich and Joshua Groß tell of friendship, love and the enduring desire for change. Insa Wilke brings the two into conversation with each other, who meet here for the first time.
