Ludwig van Beethoven: Symphony No. 1 in C major op. 21

Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 1 was composed in 1799 and premiered a year later. Its key is C major, a key that stood for enlightenment and a new beginning in the Viennese classical period. For Beethoven, the form of the symphony marked the beginning of a musical oeuvre that would become the center of his compositional work. In terms of length, instrumentation and style, Beethoven's symphonic debut is still reminiscent of Haydn and Mozart. Nevertheless, Beethoven already demonstrates his very individual approach to musical elements such as motifs and form.

With "BEEEEEEEEEthoven!", all nine Beethoven symphonies can be experienced as a cycle over two seasons: In the 2024/25 season there will be the first four symphonies, in the following season the other four, and as a finale the 9th Symphony in the Philharmonic Concert.
