An almost forgotten art collection is rediscovered! This special exhibition makes the Straßner Collection of the Technische Universität Braunschweig visible for the first time and thus also makes a piece of Braunschweig's history accessible. After all, the collection has an eventful history, ranging from permanent display in publicly accessible locations to unexplained thefts and quiet disappearance in the university library's stacks.
Between the 1950s and 1970s, works of art by renowned regional and international artists were collected as a teaching collection for the former Braunschweig University of Education, and the works were also used as decoration to enhance the university buildings. The approximately 110 works by over 50 artists have literally been unearthed over the past year and a half as part of a project to make them accessible and visible.
