Atlantis

In the organizer's words:

Around 2,400 years ago, Athens was the place where the foundations of democracy were laid. The Greek city's system of government was probably more modern than any other at the time - citizens elected their politicians. At the same time, philosophers such as Plato were pondering the meaning of life and how people should live together. He wrote the story of Atlantis, the mysterious lost city that is still told today. 9000 years before Plato's time, Atlantis was a land of milk and honey. But the road from happiness to exuberance was not far. One day, the sea swallowed up the city after a powerful earthquake. Since then, it is said to have disappeared deep beneath the surface of the sea. Plato's warning to his fellow citizens in prosperous Athens: don't lean back too much, even the most powerful states can sink.

Even today, the once sunken city still haunts our stories. Let's travel there and see for ourselves! The AIRLANTIS airline takes the public directly to their destination: Atlantis. What will await us there? Who are today's inhabitants of the legendary utopia?

Atlantis is a PLUS production. Two actors are on stage together with citizens from Kassel and the surrounding area. They have their say with their voices, expertise and views and question their and our worldviews.
What do you think about when you think about the future? How do we come to an agreement when our own ideas differ from those of others? How do we decide together what our future looks like?

Introductions to school performances take place 30 minutes before the start in the Schauspielhaus foyer. After the performance, there is the opportunity for a follow-up discussion.
