Every month Astronomy on Tap Cologne offers entertaining and enlightening talks in German and English for your inner astronomy nerd! Join us and learn what astrophysicists are doing to solve the mysteries of the cosmos.

Don't miss the exciting Pub Quiz and show your funny side by guessing quirky astronomical acronyms. The winners will receive astronomical goodies to take home!

• "A brief history of black holes: from Einstein to the present" (in German) by Daniel Vieira

The general theory of relativity predicts the existence of singularities in spacetime. These singularities are not mathematical curiosities but describe real objects in the universe: black holes!

• "How many eyes does it take to see dusty young protostars?" (in English) by Dr. Bethany Jones

What goes on in the birthplaces of the most massive stars? The creation of young stars much more massive than the sun can be seen with ALMA, a telescope in the Atacama Desert in Chile made of 66 smaller telescopes that see different light to human eyes, which tells us enough about their chemistry to work out where they come from - important, as they provide almost all of the UV radiation in a galaxy!
