ARCHITEKTUR & KUNST AM BAU Führung durch das Kunstmuseum Bochum

In the organizer's words:

Our museum building is a house with a workshop character - less a temple of representation, more a large, friendly workshop - this was the credo of the 1983 opening of the new museum building, which was designed by the renowned Danish architects Jørgen Bo & Vilhelm Wohlert. With its variable and open spaces, the architecture combines supposed opposites, such as the interplay between inside and outside or between nature and art. For the inauguration of the new building in 1983, the visually defining works such as the wall mosaic in the foyer of the building (Mogens Andersen), a floor sculpture in front of the entrance to the museum (Jiří Hilmar) and a Plexiglas light installation (Terry Haass) were realized. On a tour of the new museum building, we will explore the art on the building and the architectural language of this special example of museum architecture.
