Apartheid in Israel | Tabu in Deutschland - Arne Andersen

Invitation to a lecture followed by a discussion
Arne Andersen will speak on the basis of his book "Apartheid in Israel Taboo in Germany?", which was published at the end of 2024. He takes us on a journey through the history, present and future of Palestine. Using numerous pictures and maps, he traces the ideas of political Zionism from Theodor Herzl's book "The Jewish State" from 1896 to the present day. For him, there is a continuity from the end of the 19th century to the present day. He will also address the debate in Germany, which believes it is in line with state policy to brand any criticism of Israel as anti-Semitic and thus place the non-violent idea of the BDS movement, which emerged from Palestinian civil society, outside the democratic discourse. For him, the two-state solution is obsolete; homogeneous societies do not fit into the 21st century. He therefore advocates a one-state solution.

Arne Andersen is a qualified historian, he has been involved in the Middle East conflict since the student movement and is an active member of the Hamburg regional group of the German-Palestinian Association and a member of BIP (Alliance for Justice between Israelis and Palestinians). He is the author of the above-mentioned book "Apartheid in Israel - Taboo in Germany?", which has been published in a new edition in collaboration with Johannes Feest from Bremen and Sebastian Scheerer. He is a sought-after expert speaker and conference participant.
