If anyone can dispel all existing prejudices against the viola, it is Antoine Tamestit. He has been an ambassador for his instrument on the world's great stages for many years and has been the artistic director and program director of the Viola Space Festival Japan since 2013, which is entirely dedicated to this instrument and its repertoire. Highly musical and committed, Tamestit proves time and again that the viola is at least as virtuosic, elegant and light-footed as its little sister, the violin. It is sometimes rumored that she is even the better singer with her lower register, which is so close to the human voice. Is that true? You can find out for yourself when Antoine Tamestit makes his master concert debut with us in Bremen in June 2025. Together with violinist James Ehnes, he will bring one of the showpieces for viola to the stage of the Bremer Glocke: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Sinfonia concertante.
