Heymann meets The Munich Harmonists

"Ein Freund, ein guter Freund", "Das gibt's nur einmal" or "Irgendwo auf der Welt" - the original Comedian Harmonists had around ten world hits by Werner Richard Heymann in their repertoire. Als ich einmal durch München ging is the title of the Munich Harmonists' new program, which they are now dedicating to Heymann's songs.

Classics reinterpreted

The Munich Harmonists sextet stands for vocal brilliance, homogeneity and musical wit in the tradition of the Comedian Harmonists. Now the five singers and their pianist have rearranged other Heymann songs, for example from the film Bombs at Monte Carlo. With hit songs in films such as "Die drei von der Tankstelle" and "Der Kongress tanzt", Heymann was the most frequently performed composer in Germany before his emigration in 1933. From 1951, Munich became the center of his life.

Heymann's daughter Elisabeth Trautwein-Heymann, who will be in conversation with historian Andreas Heusler and Manfred Stecher from The Munich Harmonists on this musical evening, will also talk about this. A CD of the same name will also be released to accompany the program. The evening is being organized in cooperation with Public History and the Cultural Department of the City of Munich.
