The new event series "Advent between excavators: lights, fairy tales and the smell of cookies along the main street" brings a special pre-Christmas atmosphere to Brackwede in December and invites residents to four special community events. The series replaces the previous "Advent Calendar of Diversity" format and focuses on new accents during the Advent season.
"Despite the construction sites along the main street, we want to create a festive atmosphere and strengthen the sense of community," explains Meral Şahin, a volunteer at the "Round Table for Brackwede", which brings together over 20 associations, initiatives and migrant organizations.
The series of events starts on Wednesday, December 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Pizza Pazza (Hauptstraße 77). Visitors can expect an atmospheric get-together with fire baskets, hot winter soup and singing together. The second event will take place on December 11 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., when the active members of the Round Table invite you to bake cookies at Café Aura (Hauptstraße 119). The event continues on Wednesday, December 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a cozy fairy tale evening by the fireplace: a storyteller takes guests into the world of fairy tales and stories at Café Bürenkemper (Hauptstraße 91).
"It is important to us to make this last 'construction site December' particularly atmospheric and enjoyable for the people of Brackwede," says co-organizer Stefina Ritterbusch. The grand finale awaits visitors on Saturday, December 21: a "walking act" with musical accompaniment will parade along the main street between 11 am and 2 pm and provide festive entertainment.
Another highlight is the Brackweder Advent Market on the second weekend of Advent, in which the Round Table also participates. There, guests can have their photo taken in a Christmas-decorated backdrop and enjoy regional and international specialties such as East Westphalian Pickert and hot oriental Salep drinks.
All events are free and open to everyone - a festive invitation to all Brackwede residents to experience the Advent season together.
