In the organizer's words:

There are subtle differences in pitches and tonal systems, virtuosity and musical traditions and, of course, in the biographies of the people on, behind and in front of the stage. This year's festival edition of ACHT BRÜCKEN | Musik für Köln takes a look at diverse forms of microtonality.

The focus on "subtle differences" not only expands our listening and playing habits, but also questions and breaks them, points out alternatives and thus combines the "new music" of Western European and North American practice with traditional music from a wide range of cultural areas in a surprising way.

ACHT BRÜCKEN once again presents numerous world premieres, most of which have been commissioned by the festival: 18 brand-new works can be heard, by both well-known and younger composers.

Do you want to support the festival and can afford culture without having to pay? Do you want to show solidarity with people who are struggling to make ends meet? Choose a higher price and build bridges! Do you have less money left over for concerts? Is the cost a reason for you to attend fewer concerts or not try anything new? Then opt for a lower price. Proof of discount, such as a student ID, is no longer required.
