She is a grande dame of German sport. An outstanding personality - in both senses of the word - one of the greats of athletics. In three consecutive years (1990, 1991 and 1992), she first became European champion, then world champion and finally Olympic champion. What a unique triple! A high jumper who perfected the "jump at the right moment".

This is the title of the recently published autobiography in which Heike Henkel looks back on her great career. But she also talks about hurdles and obstacles and provides very personal insights into a life in the limelight... and beyond.
