The pre-Christmas performances by Abi Wallenstein & BluesCulture have been generating enthusiasm in Kiel for many years. In 2024, this "traditional concert" will take place at the Pumpe for the first time.

The charismatic Abi, the highly energetic Steve and the dynamic Martin are the true "holy three kings", at least when it comes to blues. The bandwidth of these "majesties" ranges from very deep blues to wild boogie to weird rock and soulful ballads, and the rousing, grooving blues they celebrate is second to none. The light-footed interplay between the three musicians is unique and always leads to great moments that arise spontaneously from the flow of improvisation.
If you talk about the blues in Hamburg's music scene, one name usually comes up first: Abi Wallenstein. He has been winning the hearts of blues fans for many years with his mischievous, boyish laugh and warm charisma and is already a kind of folk hero for many. His unique fingerpicking style is a fascinating mixture of delta blues and rock elements: Percussive and punchy. But it is first and foremost Wallenstein's voice that inspires. It sounds hoarse and smoky, yet conjures up so much heart and soul in its swinging tones that it makes you forget any technically perfect singing.

At Abi's side is the British harmonica master Steve Baker. Fans love his innovative melodic style, which combines elements from the blues tradition with country, folk, funk and soul. He plays both lyrically and calmly, as well as rocking and biting, generating a creative tension that fascinates. Rhythm player Martin Röttger also makes a significant contribution to the music with his sometimes explosive and powerful, sometimes elastic and soft beats. Like no other, he knows how to perfectly capture Wallenstein's idiosyncratic grooves and support them masterfully.
