"Aban" is the eighth month in the Persian solar calendar and means "protector of water", which symbolizes the flowing and unifying power of music. The ABAN Ensemble has a diverse repertoire that transports listeners into the atmosphere of Persian music. The ensemble's music draws on various regional forms of traditional Persian music, complemented by its own innovative arrangements and improvisations. The five Iranian-born musicians revive Persia's musical heritage with their own perspective and bring the music into the present with traditional instruments such as tar, kamancheh, daf, dayere and tombak.
