The dissimilar cousins David (Jesse Eisenberg) and Benji (Kieran Culkin) travel to Poland together to find out more about the life of their recently deceased grandmother. The road trip, which was intended as a journey into the past, confronts the two with the present, in which they question their relationship to each other and their family history. For the Eyes Open Cinema Day

On January 27, 2025, the Augen auf-Kinotag will take place for the first time to commemorate the victims of National Socialism. The top-class program with guests, audience premiere, panel discussion & school cinema offers invites you to remember, exchange and meet.

The aim is to convince young people in particular of how important it is to engage with the past and reflect on it today. Because there is only one answer to the question "What's happening in the past?": Everything.

The Augen auf-Kinotag is conceived and realized by the Foundation Remembrance, Responsibility and Future (EVZ) and the agency Jetzt & Morgen. VISION KINO, Network for Film and Media Competence, will provide educational support for the cinema day.
