"Small films" with a big impact

At irregular intervals, we show hand-picked films that we consider to have a high viewing value, but which do not find their way into the regular program for various reasons. Because we don't have enough space, for example, or because the films undeservedly don't have the greatest impact.

As a rule, the Schauwert films are only shown on isolated dates spread over 2-3 weeks. A little speed and spontaneity are therefore required - but it's worth it.

"A Different Man"

What if you woke up overnight with the "perfect" face? For Edward, who suffers from a rare skin disease, this sounds like a blessing. The actor is unsuccessful at work and in love. His life drifts uniformly in a shabby New York apartment with a hole in the ceiling. The chance to make a fresh start with the help of a radical medical experiment sounds good. At first, the new dream life goes well. However, when he fatefully ends up in the exact role that embodies his former alter ego - a man with neurofibromatosis - chaos breaks out inside him.

Schimberg's stirring drama, which alternates between tragedy and comedy, asks many of the right questions and delights with cinematic details and a fantastic Sebastian Stan in the leading role.
