Bremerhaven inclusion conferences
Twice a year, we invite people to a large public inclusion conference. This is where the entire network and many other interested people come together to work on various topics relating to inclusion. Our aim is to get as many people as possible from a wide range of living and working environments interested in the topic of inclusion and participation and to encourage them to get involved and think along with us.
In May 2022, we hosted an inclusion conference at Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences. In 3.5 hours, we worked with over 100 people in workshop stations on the topics of inclusion in the world of work, the removal of barriers, more participation in culture and leisure and inclusion in the living environment. A great success! people have joined our working groups and new projects have been created.
The fourth inclusion conference took place in September 2022. This time it was held in Bremerhaven's Stadthalle. We were once again delighted to have a fully booked conference with 120 participants. The main topic here was barriers. In six workshop groups, the participants sharpened their awareness of potential barriers from the perspectives of different types of impairment and developed ideas for removing and preventing them.
In March 2023, the fifth Bremerhaven Inclusion Conference was held to discover new approaches together and gain inspiration for engaging public relations work so that even more people can benefit from the commitment of Bremerhaven's inclusion creators. In addition to an exciting impulse from the advertising industry, the participants developed advertising concepts for events and offers.
In September 2023, we welcomed correspondents from the ARD capital city studio as keynote speakers. Together with us and over 150 participants, they embarked on a journey into the future. In eight creative workstations, the participants were able to work on a barrier-free and inclusive Bremerhaven from the future. "Let's assume Bremerhaven is barrier-free and an inclusive urban society" was the assignment and the result showed us a great Bremerhaven.
In April 2024, a change of perspective was on the agenda at the 7th Bremerhaven Inclusion Conference. In her moving keynote speech "I see something you don't see", Yana Gebhardt opened our eyes to new perspectives and showed us how our thinking and attitude make inclusion possible. In 18 workshops, topics of the participants were worked on in an open space format - different perspectives were exchanged, ideas were collected, impulses were set, solutions were conceived.
The 8th Bremerhaven Inclusion Conference will start on 15.05.2025. Further information will be available here soon.
The conferences are organized by the Inclusive City Foundation, the Bremerhaven City Council and the Stadthalle as host. The content of the conferences is organized by the nib steering group and our office is responsible for the organization and implementation.
