In the organizer's words:

A hunchbacked dwarf who doesn't know his own reflection and is in love with the twelve-year-old Spanish Infanta: After dancing for her and finally realizing that the Infanta has been mocking him all this time just because of his looks, he dies of a broken heart. Franz Schreker's tone poem based on Oscar Wilde's fairy tale of the same name is on the program together with Schnittke's Gogol Suite. It depicts several episodes from the work of playwright Nikolai Gogol with a great deal of humor, verve and grotesque musical language.
