3 YEARS OF NEW BASEMENT
3 years ago, we celebrated the first basement show ever @Import Export in the middle of the covid pandemic. And we have been doing shows, making recordings, meeting new friends & most importantly learning about music and the responsibility that comes with it eversince. We want to become better at what we do, become more aware and to find more things that feel 100% right. Thanks to everyone who's interested and of course to Import Export for providing a safe space for everyone!
And therefore we are celebrating 3 years of new basement in the night of the 14th of March. Zurich's Krautrock project Konomono will play their first show in Munich + we will also be celebrating the release of the first Sha Mo album. (Fun fact, the first basement show 3 years ago was also a Sha Mo show). There will be DJs afterwards!
Shā Mò (沙漠)
Shā Mò (沙漠) gives us an insight into the school days of friends in Shanghai, China. During their studies here in Munich, identification with their home country became increasingly difficult, both politically and socially. However, reveling in shared memories from school brings a new, beautiful and almost mythical connection to home. Using elements of Chinese folk music unconsciously, the four-piece band Shā Mò (沙漠) will present a set full of loud guitars, personal anecdotes and building tension. The first album will be out on 7.3.2025.
Konomono (Zurich)
Konomono is a five-piece krautrock/psychedelic band founded in winter, 2023. Members of the band are from different musical (shoegaze, jazz, dream pop, afrobeat) and cultural backgrounds (Chinese, Swiss and Arabic). Unlike classical krautrock which often focuses on the motorik flow of the songs, they prefer to play with the hypnotizing quality of simple melodies on top of a classic krautrock song structure. Their songs are written in languages such as Japanese, Chinese, Cantonese, Arabic and English - an attempt to use them as different sound instruments.
